About "First at Spyglass"
"FIRST AT SPYGLASS" by LeRoy Neiman. This is a Limited Edition, Serigraph on Paper Hand Signed and Numbered by Neiman. Spyglass Hill is rated the toughest course in California and in the Top 100 in the world. Spyglass Hill is named after the Spyglass Tavern, where, in Robert Louis Stevenson's Treasure Island, young Jim meets Long John Silver for the first time. The Spyglass was a little tavern with a large brass telescope for a sign. Its customers were raucous seafaring men. The first hole, a par 5, with a 600-yard dogleg, is named "Treasure Island" after onetime resident Robert Louis Stevenson's classic novel. Hole 14 - a par 5, at 555 yards the second longest on the course - is named "Long John Silver." Other holes are named for other characters and scenes in Treasure Island. That's Tom Watson shooting - and could it be Robert Louis Stevenson making a cameo appearance on the left as Tom's caddy? Edition: 157/250. Image Dimensions: 22" x 38". Framed Dimensions: 34" x 50". Gallery Retail: $5,800.00
